Application - Sticky Tabs
Here's a few tips before you get started:
- Nail prep is key to having your nails look as seemless as they can and that they adhere as long as possible.
- Go through all the instructions prior to starting application to get a better understanding of what needs to be done.
- I would highly recommend applying the nails RIGHT before you sleep - this will be the best chance to avoid contact with water to help solidify the adhesion.
- Sticky tabs have an approximate wear duration of 1-7 days, so it is more suited for short term wear.
Tool Kit
Each set of nails comes with a tool kit that contains everything you need to apply your nails! The tool kit includes:
- x1 standard-size sheet of sticky tabs
- x1 large-size sheet of sticky tabs
- x2 alcohol pads
- cuticle oil
- nail glue
- wooden cuticle stick
- nail file
- nail buffer block
- wooden stick with sanding tip
File down all of your natural nails with the nail file.
Push back all of your cuticles with the rounded side of the wooden cuticle stick.
Buff the entirety of your nail beds (especially close to the cuticle line) with the coarse side of the buffer to remove oils, shine and to create a rough(ish) surface for optimum adhesion.
Wipe the entirety of your nail beds with the alcohol pad to remove dust and dehydrate the nail bed. Don’t touch your nail beds from here on out as this will cause oils to go back onto the nail bed and affect adhesion!
Size each sticky tab to your nails where it covers as much of the nail bed as possible without overlapping your cuticle or off of your nail bed. This can be attached in any direction as well.
Attach the sticky tab right along the edge of the tip of your nail (without it going over). Don't stress if there is a bit of a gap along your cuticle line!
Once all tabs have been stuck onto your nails, you will now work with one nail at a time and attach the false nails as you go. This is to help avoid accidentally touching the other sticky tabs that you aren't working on.
Position the false nail in a 45 degree angle, and connect the end of the nail to the end of the sticky tab so that it is stuck in that one spot.
From here, with the nail still held at a slight angle, push the nail towards your cuticle so that it stretches out the end of the sticky tab to create a thin layer of adhesion.
Push the rest of the false nail down and hold it in position for approximately 15 seconds so that the false nail is fully adhered to the entirety of the sticky tab.
One nail down! Repeat this for the rest of your nails, and remember to work with one finger at a time.
Pro Tip ~
-
Everyone has different nails - whether they're flat, slightly curved, or deeply curved. Without an even surface, the false nail may miss some spots to attach to and not look as seamless as it could.
-
If you have a nail (or nails) that are curved from the cuticle line to the tip of your nail, you can cut an unused sticky tab.
-
Attach this to the tip of your nail without going over.
-
It will look something like this, and give the false nail a more even surface to attach to. From here, attach the false nail as instructed above.
And that's it! Enjoy your sexy ass set of nails ( ˘ ³˘) ♥
Post application care
Here's a few tips after you've applied your nails:
- Don't use cuticle oil straight away - wait until the next day. Try to remember to apply cuticle oil each day or every other day from then on to help your hands and nails look and feel fresh and hydrated.
- Avoid contact with water for at least 3 hours. If you must use water, opt for cold.
- No matter how your nails are (natural, done at the salon, applied at home, etc) - please avoid using your nails as tools! Too much pressure can lead to damage. Avoid using your nails to push, pull, or pick at things as much as possible.
- Just like our skin or hair, everyone has different nail beds and may experience varying timeframes of adhesion, even if prepped well.
